Wilhelm Joswig (2 February 1912 – 7 July 1989) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Luftwaffe during World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. During his career he flew 820 missions in which he is credited with the destruction of 88 tanks, a submarine, 13 bridges 2 trains and 2 aerial victories.[Notes 1]
